A grassroots coalition of business owners and individuals has launched a campaign to give Seattle voters a voice. Last summer, the Seattle City Council voted to impose a tax on sugared beverages – soda pop, juices, energy drinks, and iced coffees & teas. The tax went into effect on January 1st, in spite of there being no voter approval, or disapproval, of the tax. So, the Keep Seattle Livable For All coalition has created a phone number, 800-397-3228, where voters can voice their concerns, to be shared with the Mayor of Seattle and the City Councilmembers.
Please call 800-397-3228 to give your voice to your elected officials on the sugared beverage tax. And visit KeepSeattleLivableForAll.org to learn more about the costs, and impacts, of the Seattle beverage tax – and see a list of some of the supporters of this campaign.
