Kvichack Marine Industries, the Fremont-based boat manufacturer, recently delivered P/V Bering, a 50’ pilot vessel, to the Southwest Alaska Pilots Association (SWAPA.)

The delivery of the Bering encompassed 1350 nautical miles, taking over 5 days to reach its new homeport in Valdez, Alaska.  Weather conditions were favorable for the journey, yet the Johnstone Strait (in British Columbia,) provided a good test for the handling and sea keeping characteristics of the Bering, as it goes into operation on the coastal areas of South Central Alaska.

Designed by Kvichak, the all-aluminum vessel is powered by twin engines and can reach a top speed of 36 knots.  The boat can carry 2 crew members and four passengers.
