Kvichak Marine Industries, located in Fremont, recently reported the successful delivery of the M/V Samual A. Church, a 50’ x 15.5’ pilot vessel intended for operation on the Mississippi River between its homeport in Pilottown and New Orleans, Louisiana.  The Crescent River Port Pilots (CRPPA) took delivery of vessel, and to celebrate they held a christening ceremony in early June at the Southern Yacht Club of New Orleans.  Currently Kvichak is building a second similar boat for the CRPPA, due for delivery in September 2012.

Designed by Kvichak Marine, the all-aluminum vessel is powered by twin Detroit Diesel engines, with Hamilton waterjets, to allow for excellent +/- 32 knots.  The vessel has a Wing Hybrid fendering system and a roof boarding platform designed specifically for the CRPPA.  The vessel pulls a draft of 2.75’ and can hold 500 gallons of fuel.  It can accommodate 2 crew persons and up to 10 passengers.
