Kvichak Marine Industries, located in West Fremont (at 469 N.W. Bowdoin Pl), recently announced that they’ve been awarded a contract to build five more Marine Preposition Force (MPF) utility boats for the United States Navy.  This follows Kvichak’s successful delivery of 26 vessels to them since February 2006.

The 40′ high-speed landing craft will replace other Navy craft, and provide transportation for 30 troops, their gear and/or general cargo.  The craft utilizes a house aft configuration, power bow doors and high-level engine suctions for beach deployment.  The five all-aluminum craft are scheduled to be delivered into active and reserve commands in multiple US locations by Spring 2011.
