Recently the Chemehuevi Transit Authority of Lake Havasu, California took delivery of the P/V ‘Tecopa,’ a 65’ passenger catamaran built in Fremont by Kvichak Marine Industries. The vessel will operate as a ferry, with ports of call at Lake Havasu City, Arizona and Havasu Landing, California.

The ‘Tecopa’ was sea trialed in Seattle, and then disassembled and loaded on to two trucks for shipment to Havasu Landing. The reassembly was done by Kvichak with support from Chemehuevi Tribe members, and the maiden voyage of the ‘Tecopa’ took place on December 3, 2012.

The 150-passenger catamaran, powered by twin diesel engines, was designed by Kvichak Marine. Operated with a crew of three, the vessel operates at a service speed of 20+ knots.
