On Wednesday, October 21st, from 7p – 8:30p, Seattle Parks & Recreation invites the community to review schematic designs and provide feedback on the planned Sensory Garden at Woodland Park Zoo. The community is encouraged to participate in this review, taking place at the Phinney Neighborhood Association Red Room, to better create a garden for all.
The Sensory Garden, being built around the existing Rose Garden at Woodland Park, will involve all the senses. Using elements that involve sight, touch, smell and sound, the Sensory Garden will provide a place of magic and rest for the blind, deaf, autistic and everyone with accessibility challenges. This meeting will include the Project Manager from Seattle Parks along with members of the design team to give information on the latest design, crafted using feedback from the public meeting held in September.
This community-initiated project has funding from the Parks & Green Spaces Levy Opportunity Fund. Seattle Parks has coordinated the project with the Lions Club, the Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center, Lighthouse for the Blind, and ARC of King County.
For more information on this project, and to review information from the September meeting, visit the Sensory Garden website, or contact Jay Rood, with the Seattle Parks, at 206/733-9194 or jay.rood@seattle.gov
