This month, attend two different classes on the specifics of spirits, and developing a discerning taste, through partnership between the North Seattle College and The Barrel Thief Wine & Whiskey Bar.
On Monday, July 13th, starting at 6:30p, learn to mix drinks on your patio with a splash of sunshine by attending ‘Dazzling Summer Cocktails.’ This class will teach the basics of cocktail making in your home bar, including equipment selection, balancing ingredients, and basic mixing techniques. Learn to create (and sample) several summer cocktails, and pick up recipes to impress friends. Instructor Christopher Gronbeck will help develop your mixology skills, and provide all the materials necessary (for a $15 fee, payable at the class.)
On July 20th, starting at 6:30p, learn how to select, age and enjoy the juice of the grape with ‘Wine 101’. Learn the nuances that separate cheap wine from good wine, American wine from European wine, and the nature of different grape varieties. Sommelier David LeClaire, and Christopher Gronbeck, will share from their extensive experiences with instruction in the basics of wine stewardship. No extra materials will be necessary from students, although a $10 fee will be due in class for materials provided.
Register, for $39, for either class (‘Dazzling Summer Cocktails’ and/or ‘Wine 101’,) on-line with North Seattle College. Please plan to eat before attending class, to prepare for the tastings. Students must be 21 or older, and picture ID is required.
