Learn About Maritime History, and the Modelers Craft, At History House

At History House, the detailed model of the H.M.S. Discovery, will be discussed at an Open House on June 8th Photo by K. Lindsay, Dec '12

On Saturday, June 8th, at 2pm, History House of Greater Seattle will host a public open house for the Discovery Modelers Education Center (DMEC) celebrating, and detailing, their work.  Come aboard this informative and entertaining discussion of nautical history and craftsmanship.

History House Director John Nordstrand will provide a thumbnail history of the accomplishments of three historic and iconic vessels with strong ties to the Pacific Northwest.  DMEC Executive Director Colleen Wagner will then discuss the creation of models of these ships, now on display – the 14 foot H.M.S. Discovery, the 12 foot S.S. Beaver, and the 10 foot Schooner Exact.  Hear about these ships, the mariners who guided them and the modelers who honor them.

Enjoy this free, family-friendly event inside the comfortable atmosphere of History House.  A coffee, juice-and-cookie reception will follow.  For more information, contact History House at 206/675-8875 or info@historyhouse.org
