On Saturday, February 24th, from Noon – 3p, Woodland Park Zoo welcomes the Seattle Rose Society for its annual rose pruning demonstration in the Rose Garden. This free, educational presentation offers everyone opportunities to ask questions and gain insight on how to care for roses, whether a veteran gardener or a curious wannabee.
Experts in roses, the rosarians, will teach where and how much to cut when pruning roses, and how to use tools properly for correct cuts. Discover the varieties of roses, and the pruning techniques for each. Gain insight into the world of roses, and how to best care for them.
Also, stroll the well-cared grass pathways of the 2.5 acres of the WPZ Rose Garden, and see the extensive array of bush roses, hybrid teas, floribundas, grandifloras, and climbers. It is the perfect setting for asking questions and finding out more about caring for all different varietals of roses.
This demonstration will take place rain, or shine, or snow. Enjoy light refreshments, while finding out everything about pruning and caring for these delicate, and iconic, blooms.
