On Thursday, March 16th, Moisture returns to Fremont, and Hale’s Palladium, with a Festival full of exciting, inspiring and engaging acts! This vaudeville and burlesque showcase only arrives at the Center of the Universe for a month each year, and if you haven’t gotten tickets yet, you may just once again miss out…
Don’t be that guy!
Check out the Moisture Festival.org website, to see the calendar of shows and find the nights (or matinees) you must see! Ordering tickets in advance guarantees that you won’t miss out on all this outrageousness, before it disappears for another year. See jugglers, acrobats, trapeze artists, tight-rope walkers, slack rope walkers, hula hoop dancers, clowns, bubble blowers, chanteuses, contortionists, sword swallowers, singers, rope spinners, and other, indescribable performers – all accentuated by live music!
In addition to nine performances each week at Hale’s Palladium (plus burlesque shows at the Broadway Performance Hall and, this year only, special floating burlesque on The Islander Yacht,) Moisture Festival always produces some seriously educational events. Check out these one-of-a-kind opportunities:
- Workshop with Iman Lizarazu & Avner the Eccentric – Introduction to Eccentric Performing – on Saturday, March 18th from 11a – 3p at West of Lenin. For performers and non-performers, this hands-on workshop will expand your capacity and ability to create and promote, and solve problems in unusual ways. Cost $40 per person, advance registration recommended.
- Workshop with professional puppet-maker Annett Mateo – Let’s Make Puppets! – on Monday, March 20th from 7:30p – 9:30p at Hale’s Palladium. Make the most amazing sock puppet ever! This workshop is great for adults and children alike, although warm glue guns will be used. Cost $20 per person, pre-registration recommended.
- Talk with Matthew ‘Bob’ Stull – The Bobs: The Most Influential Acapella Group You’ve Never Heard Of – on Monday, March 27th from 7:30p – 9:30p in Hale’s Ales Pub. Following the very last Moisture Festival appearance ever of ‘The Bobs’, Stull will share stories and history of the 35 year run of this Northwest group, now on its farewell tour! Hear about this singing sensation from one of its members, and ask questions! FREE for all ages – no registration required.
- Lecture with Paul Magid – The Circuit Chautauqua Movement and Vaudeville – on Monday, April 3rd from 7:30p – 9:30p at Hale’s Palladium. Examine the history of the Chautauqua movement, from its beginnings to its near demise during the depression. Magrid will talk about how this mixing of education and entertainment moved across the U.S. and functioned commercially, on a day-to-day basis. Magrid will also share information on some of the great vaudevillians of the time that traveled the rails among the great circuit of chautauquas. FREE for all ages – no registration required.
