LifeEqualsPlayAug14WoL_10458063_671832276240129_8124822695840221220_nBetween August and November of 2014, fifteen theatre companies plan to produce works by the absurdist, avant garde playwright Samuel Beckett through the Seattle Beckett Festival.  The first of these productions will take place in Fremont, at West of Lenin, from August 13th – 24th, and is called ‘Life = Play, An Evening of Beckett Shorts & Rarities’.

‘Life = Play’ is four short plays by Beckett, selected by producer A.J. Epstein, for the way they capture the playfulness and genius of this writer’s often more accessible shorter works.  The four stories collected here will be:

  • ‘Rockaby’, performed by Susanna Burney and directed by AJ Epstein
  • ‘Act Without Words, Part I’, performed by Ray Tagavilla and directed by Carol Roscoe
  • ‘Come and Go’, performed by Rachel Delmar, Kate Kraay, and Kate Sumpter and directed by AJ Epstein
  • ‘La Dernière Bande (Krapp’s Last Tape)’ en French with supertitles, performed and directed by M. Burke Walker

Performances will be held on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8p, with a Sunday matinee at 2p.  Tickets cost $20 for general admission, $12 for students and TPS members, and can be purchased through Brown Paper Tickets.  Seating is limited for this production, so get your tickets now for this rare opportunity for truly absurd theater in Fremont.
