On Monday, July 6th, at 6:30p, the Fremont Branch of the Seattle Public Library will host another in its quarterly series of live poetry readings by active, often-published poets. In partnership with Floating Bridge Press, the Fremont Branch offers this free evening of literary outreach – with readings and a question-and-answer period with the poets.
This time, meet Erin Fristad, Judith Skillman and Faith Allington, three local, female poets of different backgrounds, and distinctly different voices.
- Fristad, worked as a deckhand for 15 years, and mines her heritage as the spawn of loggers, fishermen and miners. Her poetry has appeared in The Seattle Review, Poets of the American West, and Floating Bridge Review.
- A teacher, in the field of humanities, Skillman has a new poetry collection called, ‘House of Burnt Offerings.’ Her work has appeared in Tampa Review, Prarie Schooner, FIELD, and The Iowa Review.
- Originally from California, Allington reflects on her place as the child of immigrants, poised between two countries, and living now between mountains a water, as her heritage. Her poems have been picked up by Crab Creek Review, Cascadia Review, King County Poetry on Buses, Pontoon, and Floating Bridge Review.
Attendance at the poetry reading at the Fremont Branch Library is free, and open to all ages, and interest levels. Come hear your first poems, or revel in this favorite form of literature. Floating Bridge Press will also have books of poetry available for purchase at the reading. For more information on this, and other events at the Fremont Branch, call 206/684-6084.
