On the nights of Friday, November 12th, and Saturday, November 13th, the resident dance company of the Fremont Abbey Arts Center – Karin Stevens Dance – will perform five contemporary dance pieces originally shown last summer at the Festival Amadeus in Kalispell, Montana plus a new work choreographed for music composed by Philip Peterson of the Grace Experimental Orchestra. Both dance performances will feature live music accompaniment by the Starry Night Chamber Orchestra, and take place in the great hall of Fremont Abbey (4272 Fremont Ave N)
A special dress rehearsal performance will be offered – for free – to students of neighborhood elementary schools, and their families, on Friday, November 12th, at 4 pm. “I hope to see more families enjoying and participating in this wonderful arts community,” explained Karin Stevens, of her dance company and the Abbey Arts Center.
In addition to the original work by Peterson, Starry Night will perform works by J. S. Bach, Vivaldi, Mozart, Grieg, and Corigliano. The core-company of KSD will perform the dances – including Morgan Houghton, Melanie Williams, Amy Daniel, Caprice Abowitt, Naphtali Beyleveld, Tori McConnnell and Karin Stevens.
The show, entitled ‘A Contemporary Dance through the Baroque to the 21st Century,’ will be performed in Fremont two nights only – on November 12th & 13th – at 7:30p at the Fremont Abbey Arts Center. Tickets cost $18 (general), $15 (under 25 years old), and $10 (under 12 years old) and can be purchased through Karin Stevens Dance website or Brown Paper Tickets.
