KBFG 107.3FM launched in December 2017, with a license from the Federal Communications Commission to deliver low-power radio to Northwest Seattle Neighborhoods (KBFG – Ballard, Fremont, Greenwood.) The KBFG vision is to provide locally focused programs that delve into our community through education, business, lifestyles, and pure entertainment.
Thanks to hard-working volunteers, and support from the local community, KBFG’s music library now holds more than 2,000 Seattle bands and artists. At least 75% of the music played on 107.3FM comes from local talent. Many of KBFG’s music and cultural programs are produced by locals, and include interviews with community members, such as My Ten Songs, Local with Louise, Sea Monster Radio, and Exit Stage Left. The twenty-four hours of public affairs programming on KBFG also includes the Seattle Growth Show, Rain City People, The Climate Change & Energy News Hour, and broadcast of Ballard High School basketball games. And, on Sunday evenings, the Bed Time Radio Hour co-hosted by six-year-old Tristan and his dad, Tim. KBFG is also partnering with Town Hall to provide listeners with the on-going lecture series covering civics, arts, culture and science, over the air.
As KBFG extends its coverage beyond its on-air presentation, with full on-line streaming of its radio programs on its website, the station has relocated its office/studio to the Jack Straw Cultural Center, at 4261 Roosevelt Way NE. Of course, KBFG will have a continuing presence in our community, and at community events including art walks, the Ballard Seafood Festival, Phinney Ridge Neighborhood Center events and the American Cancer Society run this fall.
