This Friday, September 11th, starting at 8p, the Fremont Abbey Arts Center will host a concert by three quality folk artists – Lowland Hum, The Collection and Kathleen Murray. With tickets only $8 (in advance at Brown Paper,) this evening of thoughtful, carefully crafted music could be the perfect way to start the weekend.
Local indie folk singer-songwriter Kathleen Murray will lead off this evening of fine entertainment. An up-and-coming artist, featured on The Music Brew TV show, Murray released her first album, Woodland Voices, last year.
A solo project by David Wimbish blossomed into The Collection, a band from Greensboro, North Carolina, with awareness of their folk roots, appreciation for orchestral and influences of world music. Their debut album, Ars Moriendi, features over 25 musicians and wrestles with questions of mortality and spirituality.
Married couple Daniel & Lauren Goans are Lowland Hum, a duo with their third album, self-titled, just released in April and receiving accolades from a wide variety of reviewers, and grateful listeners. From North Carolina, the Lowland Hum are touring the U.S. this fall, sharing their music and illustrated lyric books with audiences in venues large and small. The duo, who have been to Seattle before, and enjoy the way we listen, look forward to playing in the popular Fremont Abbey, in collaboration with their audience. Learn more about Lowland Hum in the feature Fremocentrist.com column from September 4th.
Come hear all three of these original artists, performing their personal music. Purchase tickets in advance through Brown Paper Tickets, or take a chance and buy a ticket, if any remain, at the doors starting at 7p, for $10. Hope to see you there!
