On Saturday, June 22nd, the Fremont Arts Council will bring the Solstice Parade back to our streets, starting at 1p. The Solstice Parade will begin at Leary Way & 2nd Ave NW and proceed as performance art to Gas Works Park, where a more stationary celebration awaits.
This year, for the very first time, the Fremont Arts Council is attempting to formally schedule the Solstice Cyclists and all other painted bicycle riders, for 2:30p on June 22nd – AFTER THE SOLSTICE PARADE. This would give the cyclists more room to ride, and more general freedom to enter and exit at their convenience.
The Fremont Solstice Parade is an incredible spectacle, every year, with plenty to witness and enjoy. Music, dancers, stilt walkers, colorful floats and an overwhelming abundance of original, breathtaking art will decorate our streets starting at 1p on June 22nd. For over 30 years, the Parade has brought joy and jubilation to our community. This people-powered production comes out of the creativity, and the hands-on work, of our neighbors and friends – and you can be a part of it!
Celebrate the season, and our community, by expressing yourself through the Solstice Parade. Everyone is an artist! Stop by the Powerhouse, at 3940 Fremont Ave N, to find out how you can contribute – and dance along.
