More Art (& Other Stuff) To See During the Art Walk May 6th

This Friday, May 6th, from 6p – 9p, may well be one of the very best Fremont First Friday Art Walk ever!  And how will you know if this is just hype, or wise counsel, if you don’t participate?

A painting by Justin Kane Elder, titled 'Raleigh', on display at Evo gallery in May 2011.

This month, enjoy some remarkable new venues.  The micro-sized space of Fremont Cigar will fill with gorgeous images by photographer Josh Hughes.  Ceramics artist Laura Brodax has opened her studio – at 3410 Woodland Park Ave N – to the public for the one night of Art Walk.  Pie will be open for tasty treats, and art, as they showcase works commissioned for the shop by Deborah Faas, along with other works.

Additionally, check out some other, literally delicious venues on the Walk:

A collage/mixed media work by Erica Maule, on display at Show Pony in May 2011.

The Art Walk has several venues that show more than just art, including Show Pony (with collage and mixed media work by Erica Maule,) Art F/X (paintings and ceramics by Janet Wold,) Fremont Jewelry Design (paintings and mixed media by Lisa Ström,) Frame Up Studios (woodblock prints by Liz Neuman,) Urban Earth (collages by Katy Mercedes,) Hub and Bespoke (oil paintings by Ann McBurney,) and Portage Bay Goods (which will have jewelry by Tanya Comerford, as well as a grand re-opening celebration!)

The studio space Dragonfly Holistic Healing uses to show art, and in May this will be the photography of BJ Cummings, has a strong gallery atmosphere.  Fremont does contain a couple of (nearly) traditional gallery spaces, and in May the Evo TimesInfinity Gallery will show the incredibly detailed paintings of Justin Kane Elder.  Generally, the artists chosen for display at Studio R exceed expectations.  For May, they’ve brought in paintings by Donna Stewart and drawings/mixed media works by Meghann Noelle Seiler.

For those who drive (or bicycle) to the Art Walk, make sure to stop off (either on the way to or on the way from) at Johnston Architects (100 NE Northlake Wy, #200) to see the mixed media works by Joan Wrench.

There will be plenty to see, do and celebrate during the First Friday Art Walk for May, so make sure to arrive on the dot at 6p to squeeze it all in!
