More Places To Taste & Enjoy At The Center of the Universe

It’s a tough time for businesses, especially our small businesses in Fremont, but we’re lucky enough to also be attracting two new eateries.  Hopefully Fremonsters will show them support and encouragement through the continued COVID-19 precautions and restrictions on restaurants.

In The Seattle Times, on August 23rd, Bethany Jean Clement shared about these two new hot spots:

Dreamland Bar & Diner – Opened by Paul Shanrock, of Stampede Cocktail Club, Dreamland “just wanted to give Seattle a place for all-day breakfast and fun cocktails on tap,” according to Clement.  Shanrock hopes to be “a bright spot in a dismal year,” and has brought Cera Grindstaff and Troy Krajewski along to staff the space.  Before anyone envisioned the austerities COVID would wrought, Shanrock and his partners took over the former Red Door location and spent the lockdown doing polishing and upgrades to the local landmark.  “It’s been a rocky start,” Shanrock told Clement, “but Fremont has our back, so overall I wouldn’t change anything in the world.”

Local Tide – Located in the new Evo building, the Cedar Speedster, at Phinney and N 36th, “this locally sourced seafood, mostly sandwiches spot from chef/owner Victor Steinbrueck started as a catering pop-up at Pike Place Market (and yes, his grandfather is the Victor Steinbrueck who helped make the Market a historic district.)” wrote Clement.  Opening at a time of COVID-19 restrictions has led to creative problem solving, and Steinbrueck told Clement, “When we come out of this, we will be better for it.”

It’s a tough time to be in business, or to be anywhere, but in Fremont we can all come together to support our local restaurants and retailers – and hopefully see each other through.  Make sure you check out Local Tide and Dreamland as you seek sustenance, either out or for at home!
