Nectar & High Dive Continue To Provide Live Music, On-Line

This weekend, enjoy the music of Bearaxe, and support the local music scene.

While our nightclubs, High Dive and Nectar Lounge, are closed for social distancing to prevent COVID-19, they are still working hard to provide those at home with entertainment – and our local musicians with audiences to entertain.  These on-line concerts are free, but the clubs ask for a donation of at least $10 with the money going to the bands, the out-of-work staff, and the costs of keeping our live music venues viable until they can re-open.

Please consider contributing to this effort to keep live music at the Center of the Universe, while you enjoy some amazing local bands including:

  • Thu, May 21st at 6:30p – High Dive presents Racoma, a four-piece Indie/Alternative Rock band that love pizza, their parents and a good time. These boys can caress your ears with simple yet honest tunes that make you want to cry and laugh at the same time.  Click here to contribute for this show.
Groove out to the music of the Adam Williams Band in this virtual concert produced by Nectar Lounge, on May 29th.
  • Thu, May 21st at 8p – Nectar presents Actionesse, a post-horncore band from Bellingham, grounded with blistering punk roots blended with zany brass. Click here to purchase ‘tickets’.
  • Fri, May 22nd at 7:30p – High Dive presents Marshall Law Band performing a funk-hop celebration of positive vibes through music. This now 14-piece group focuses on music about individual empowerment and positive community change.  In addition to making music, the Band also does community activism, including working with local teens and the homeless.  Click here to get ‘tickets’ to this show.
Nectar brings the poetry and rap prowess of Raz Simone to your tech venue.
  • Fri, May 22nd at 8p – Nectar presents Raz Simone, a poet that transformed into a rapper through musical inspiration. His creative foresight, and production of videos, has brought him to the attention of thousands of appreciative fans.  Drawing inspiration form his diverse life, as well as musical predecessors, Simone speaks his powerful words over movie scores.  Click here to support this artist and this show.
  • Sat, May 23rd at 7p – Nectar Presents The Cumbieros and Terror/Cactus, a combining of two Latin American influenced bands. The Cumbieros are a multi-national cumbia band that fuse traditional and contemporary South American music with the modern sounds of ska and rock.  Terror/Cactus are a digital folklore and psychedelic electro-cumbia project of Martin Selasco, weaving hypnotic electronic beats, psychedelic guitars, dub lasers, and field recordings.  Click here to support this vibrant show.
High Dive presents a quarantine, on-line concert with Wyatt Olney & The Wreckage
  • Sat, May 23rd at 7:30p – High Dive Presents the torrential Bearaxe, with lightening-like vocal shrieks and thundering rhythms. Anyone who sees this group live, for even a song, knows they last in your mind like a photo.  Every moment, Bearaxe is a cloud ready to burst and unleash sound like weather into the world.  Click here for show ‘tickets’.

  • Fri, May 29th at 6:30p – High Dive Presents Dearheart, a progressive ‘post-emo’ band that blends the nostalgia of emo with a bit of a modern post-rock edge.   • Sat, May 30th at 7p – High Dive Presents Wyatt Olney & The Wreckage, fresh off a 2.5 year album road tour. This Seattle-based hard rock quartet have made a major impact on the Pacific Northwest music scene, and headlined major music festivals.  Click here to support this show.
  • Sat, May 30th at 8:30p – Nectar presents Dub Lounge International with Ian Ayers & The Soul Purpose, a show for those who want to enjoy fine music as well as those who want to dance as though no one is watching! Ian Ayers & The Soul Purpose create Reggae/Soul with their own unique sound.  As rootsy as they come, Dub Lounge Intl produce dancehall grooves to solid old school standards, empowering listeners into improv-driven melodic meditations.  Click here to donate to this music series.

  • Fri, Jun 5th at 8p – Nectar presents Travis Thompson featuring Parisalexa, to create a show of two emerging performers finding great followings in mainstream media. Thompson brings a refreshing blend of authenticity and lyricism to catchy music.  A singer/songwriter, Parisalexa brings a northwest background to rhythm & blues music, garnering her praise from national critics and fans alike.  Click here to contribute to this show.
  • Fri, Jun 12th at 8p – Nectar presents tribute bands Tiger Tiger (covering Duran Duran,) and Whiplash Smile (honoring Billy Idol.) As Whiplash Smile, Nite Wave brings the rock-n-roll energy and full committal of Billy Idol to their show.  Passionate about the art of Duran Duran, Tiger Tiger brings the music and the essence of these musicians to everything from ‘The Reflex’ to ‘Hungry Like The Wolf’.  Click here to ‘pay-what-you-will’ to this show.

Beyond entertainment, and supporting the shows, these live-stream virtual concerts also create a new revenue and outreach opportunity for these nightclubs, which form an important foundation to Fremont’s vitality.
