Two established watering holes on North 36th Street in Fremont have new owners, and new looks. Tost Lounge, at 513 N 36th #E, and Sinners & Saints, at 303 N 36th, have become history in this new year.
On Jan1st, 2011, under new ownership, Tost Lounge closed. Signs posted on the nightclub, and their website, explain that patrons can expect the establishment to reopen White Rabbit. The website, at www.fremontwhiterabbit.com, contained no details as of this posting, as to a date for the reopening, or details on what the new locale will be like. Under the management of previous owner Chris Lang, the bar an ecclectic selection of entertainment.
Down the street at the previously Sinners & Saints, owners Greg Woodman and Schulyer Holes have chosen to take the bar in a new direction. As a member of the original ownership group, Woodman admitted the four partners all had different visions.
Schulyer and Woodman have agreed on a ski lodge feel, and to create a bar for outdoor sports enthusiasts. “A fun place to hang out and have drinks,” as Woodman described it, “for getting together with your friends to have a good time.”
S&S closed on Saturday, Jan 8, and reopened on Friday, Jan 14 as Woodsky’s, after a five-day remodel. They added more comfortable seating, relocated one dart board, and outfitted the place with skis and snowboards, with the help of neighboring business Evo.
As a neighborhood hang-out, Woodman hopes to find interesting and significant skis and boards among customers to add to the decor. For a while, he admitted, the bathrooms may look a bit bare. “We want customers to bring in pictures of them on the mountain,” Woodman explained, that they can mount on the restroom walls.
So come check out what Woodsky’s has to offer, as we all await an appearance of the White Rabbit…
