On December 16th, the Seattle City Council approved legislation authorizing the acquisition of three property parcels on which to locate the new North Precinct Police Station. Private property, located at the southeast corner of Aurora Ave N and N 130th St, has been selected by the search committee as the location most ideal, most easily accessible and most central for the precinct.
The legislation approved by the Council will use the City power of eminent domain (condemnation) to acquire the properties, to keep the project on track and, according to the City press release, is favorable to the property owners as they sell, to allow them additional time to reinvest the money they receive before capital gains taxes are due.
