This summer an army of volunteers installed new play equipment at the north end of B.F. Day Elementary School.
Through grants from Tableau Software and the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, and using planning and design ideas from the children, our ‘Family School’ has had a new play area built by community effort. Three different volunteer work parties, plus a lot of dedicated volunteer hours spent organizing, applying for grants and following safety procedures, have resulted in an entertaining new play area for children at the school, and after school hours, for kids from all over the neighborhood.
Additional funding from this project also came from the Norcliffe Foundation, Garneau-Nicon Foundation, the Fremont Neighborhood Council, the B.F. Day PTSA, Poker Night at Hale’s Ales Brewery, Trivia Night at Shawn O’Donnell’s, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Valuable volunteer effort also came from Hallows Church.
Thank you to everyone at B.F. Day School – students, parents and friends – who gave our entire community a great new area for play and entertainment!
