This summer, the Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) will repave North 34th Street from Fremont Avenue North to Stone Way North. On the nights of Monday, July 11th and Tuesday, July 12th, crews will remove the existing top layer of asphalt from the street with a pavement grinding machine. They will work on the north side of the street on July 11th, and the south side on July 12th, according to the current schedule.
Crews are scheduled to begin work each day at 6p, and work until 6a the following morning. Also, the work contract requires that one lane of traffic – in each direction – will remain open during construction. This is intended to serve for both motor vehicles and cyclists. On-street parking (and load zones) will be restricted during the entire project – which is scheduled to go until September 2011.
Anticipate moderate noise and dust in the area during the work, according to construction notices sent out by SDOT. For more information (and contact directions,) visit the project website.
