An artist’s rendering of the proposed new North Seattle Transfer Station, coming in 2016.

On Monday, January 20th, at 5:30p, the North Seattle Transfer Station will close, and stay closed.  A brand-new facility will open on the same site in 2016, but until then all waste disposal, recycling materials and yard waste must be taken for disposal to the South Seattle Transfer Station, at 130 South Kenyon St.

Seattle Public Utilities will shut down and demolish the current facility to replace it with one more modern and efficient, designed to grow to meet the future needs of our city.  Learn more about the rebuild project on the website.

For those households unable to deliver extra trash and/or the occasional large items to the South Seattle Station, consider arranging for pick-up of bulky items.  Visit the Public Utilities website for more information.

The Seattle Public Utilities provides essential sewer, drainage, solid waste and engineering services in addition maintaining a reliable water supply for about 1.3 million residents in the metropolitan area.  They safeguard public health, maintain the City’s infrastructure and protect, conserve and enhance the region’s environmental resources.
