‘Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou?’ Why At The Fremont Outdoor Cinema, Of Course!

This Saturday, July 21st, the Fremont Outdoor Cinema features the Coen Brothers’ film treat, ‘Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou?’  Showing at dusk on the parking lot at Phinney Ave N & N 35th St., this film – often praised for its liberal use of folk music as much for the content of its story – will be preceded by a live musical performance by local blue grass duo, The Gloria Darlings.  Gates open at 7p.

Rated PG-13, the slapstick, farcical and entirely rewarding film comes from the creators of other popular Fremont Outdoor Cinema fare – including ‘Raising Arizona,’ and ‘The Big Lebowski.’  Starring George Clooney, John Turturro, and Tim Blake Nelson, the story follows these three men – escaped convicts – on an epic adventure through rural Mississippi during the Great Depression, as they survive meetings with a variety of characters.  Based loosely on the poem ‘Odyssey’ by Homer, this film is a visual, auditory and narrative delight – perfect for viewing with a few hundred of your closest friends on Fremont’s big screen!

This week, the Outdoor Movie, is sponsored by Natural Vines licorice.  Attendees will be treated to free samplings of the organic, all-natural licorice – in two tasty flavors.  A few lucky folk will also win a Natural Vines summer travel tote bag, containing a collection of other treats.  Also, on-hand for your dining pleasure will be two local mobile food trucks – Crisp Creperie and Parfait.

The Fremont Outdoor Cinema is B.Y.O.C. – bring your own chair.  Seating is first-come, first-served…except for those early bird planners who buy tickets in advance using EventBrite!

It wouldn’t be summer in Fremont without the Outdoor Movies…and what better way to celebrate the fabulous weather than a movie and licorice, this Saturday out under the stars!
