Fremont has recently been blessed with some fine options for feasting on barbeque, but this weekend those who think they know better can put their sauce where our mouths are…  Sunday, June 2nd, from 10a – 11p, will be the Fremont BBQ Extravaganza featuring a PNWBA sanctioned BBQ competition, live music, beverages, samples, a bagel ring toss, mini-pancake eating contest, and a costumed dog parade.

Between 10a – 11p, centered at the parking lot at N 36th St & Dayton Ave N, join neighbors, friends and assorted foodies in a benefit for the Fremont Arts Council Solstice Parade.

Go hog wild with cooking demos:

  • 10:45a – Whole hog
  • 11:45a – Tri tip & shrimp
  • 1p – Pizza
  • 1:30p – Pork tenderloin
  • 2:30p – Sausage
  • 3:30p – Lamb

Go hog wild with contests:

  • 10a and on – Twelve pre-registered teams (register through the Pacific Northwest BBQ Association (PNWBA) – one spot left!) will compete for $2,500 in prizes, and the honor of being ‘Best BBQ Chefs In The Universe’
  • Noon – Doggie Fashion Show – with prizes for Most Tender (Cute,) Most Saucy, Most Ridiculous, Most Elegant, and Most Look-Alike
  • 2:45p – Mini-Pancake Eating Competition – by age category (ages 4 & up)
  • 11a and on – Bagel Toss for all ages, all sizes with family-friendly prizes

Go hog wild with live music:

  • 10a – Moonshine & Turpentine
  • 12:45a – Back Door Apostles
  • 1:45p – Honky Tonkers
  • 3:45p – Boulevard Park
  • 4:45p – The Purrs

All of the above will be open-to-the-public and free!  In addition, a Whole Hog feast will take place at Pete’s Fremont Fire Pit with tickets available through Brown Paper Tickets.  Also, enjoy a flight of local beer tastes, for those 21+, at The Backdoor – prepay for priority seating through Brown Paper Tickets.
