On Saturday, November 2nd, at 7:30p, Orchestra Seattle And The Seattle Chamber Singers (OSSCS) will perform a concert of reflection, spirituality, joy and laughter, that they’ve titled ‘Memorials’. The concert will be held in the First Free Methodist Church, across the canal, near the Seattle Pacific University campus.
The OSSCS will perform the world premiere of a new oratorio, ‘Circumference’, by Huntley Beyer, written in honor of George Shangrow, the founder of Orchestra Seattle and the Seattle Chamber Singers. The piece captures Shangrow’s many moods and larger-than-life personality, and has been many years in the making and perfecting. Join the OSSCS for this major event!
‘Memorials’ will also include Jennifer Higdon’s ‘blue cathedral’, a transcendent piece that is easily one of the most popular orchestral compositions of the past 20 years. Finally, the performance will conclude with Ludwig Von Beethoven’s ‘Eroica’ symphony, an epochal masterpiece with a timelessness that resounds across the centuries.
Purchase tickets, for $25 general admission, through Brown Paper Tickets, for the 7:30p concert – and arrive at 6:30p for a free, pre-concert discussion with OSSCS music director William White and composer Huntley Beyer.
