Woodland Park Zoo has kicked-off its yearly sign-up for the exotic and highly coveted Zoo Doo and Bedspread.  Through September 8th, enter on-line to win the chance to purchase the wonder mix that will make your garden grow and your plants thrive – while being an environmental champ!

As a conservation organization, Woodland Park Zoo is committed to reducing its ecological footprint.  The Zoo Doo program is central to the Zoo’s goal of increasing waste diversion from the landfill.  The Zoo has recently celebrated significant upgrades made to the Zoo Doo yard.  Modernizing the program increased the benefits for garden enthusiasts, and the plant, which will result in more Zoo Doo in the near future, a higher quality product, and a speedier composting process.

The sweet, aromatic Zoo Doo is composed of species feces contributed by a variety of the Zoo’s non-primate herbivores, such as rhinos, hippos, giraffes, mountain goats, tapirs and more.  The mix is perfect for growing veggies and annuals.  The Zoo Bedspread contains the same species feces, along with woodchip and wood shavings.  This premium composted mulch is ideal for placement atop garden beds to suppress weeds while gradually fertilizing plants – as well as saving water and reducing the need for pesticides.

Zoo Doo is available by the gallon, starting at 5 gallons, at a cost starting at $5.  Bedspread is available by the truck load only, with the cost starting at $40.  To win an opportunity to get some of this premium material, fill out the on-line form at Zoo.org (click here.)  The entries randomly selected to get this princely poo will pick-up their allotted amount between September 28th – October 13th.  Phone and mail orders cannot be accepted.

For more information, including specific costs, visit the Zoo.org website (click here,) or call 206-625-POOP (7667)
