On Saturday, March 31st, at 7:30p, Orchestra Seattle and Seattle Chamber Singers will present ‘Stories From The East’, a concert of music by Kamran Ince, and Frederic Chopin, concluding with one of the most popular pieces in the orchestral repertoire. Hear ‘Scheherazade’ by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov performed by OSSCS at the First Free Methodist Church.
Like the stories that inspired ‘Scheherazade’, for this piece Rimsky-Korsakov created a kaleidoscope of fairy-tale images, with each movement based on a different tale. Each movement is lavished with beguiling melodies and dazzling orchestral colors, just as Rimsky-Korsakov would become known for creating.
