Last Monday the Fremont Neighborhood Council gave time during their monthly meeting for recollections and a moment of silence to honor the tragic loss of Matt Gasparich, a past president and extremely involved member.

Gasparich died quite unexpectedly, while on a ski trip at Stevens Pass. The loss of a good friend, involved neighborhood volunteer and ambitious, dedicated worker has shaken those who knew the man who participated actively in his life and our community.

While friends try to make sense of this sudden and terrible loss, a few people who aided Gasparich as he championed art and other improvements in Fremont (including getting nearly a dozen utility boxes painted,) have suggested an art installation to honor the energetic and driven volunteer.

On March 9th, at 11a, a funeral for Gasparich will take place at St. Bridget Catholic Church, in the Laurelhurst neighborhood. For now, some of his friends and family have posted notes on his Facebook page.
