Jessamy Whitsitt and Renee Steen will open their new shop, simply called Pie, sometime in mid-December. “Our goal is definately before Christmas,” Whitsitt insisted during a phone interview today. The shop will be located in what was, up until recently, half of Frame-Up Studios (3515 Fremont Ave N) – but is a separate business, and will not replace one of Fremont’s most beloved retailers.
During the Fremont First Friday Art Walk, Rob Bradley, owner of Frame Up, countered rumors swirling around about the framing store. The store is not closing. Gail Bradley relocated the gift shop portion of the business to University Village earlier this year – which explained why it looked slightly empty for a few months. The store is not opening a pie shop. Rob Bradley worked with the landlord of the building, scaled back his frame shop and, well, made room for Pie.
According to Whitsitt, the space for her new venture is “a little less than half” of Frame Up. From the store front, and a late night window, customers will be able to purchase “savory and sweet mini-pies,” which Whitsitt described as ‘hand-held’, or “about 4 inches in diameter.” While the store won’t open for a few more weeks, the website, Facebook page and listing in the 2011 Walking Guide have already been set up. “We’re really excited to be in Fremont,” Whitsitt enthused – and hopefully Fremont is just excited to have her here!
