Plan For Closure of North Transfer Station On January 20th

The North Transfer Station will be replaced with a new facility, with the old one being closed for demolition on January 20th, 2014.
The North Transfer Station will be replaced with a new facility, with the old one being closed for demolition on January 20th, 2014.

The Seattle Public Utilities will replace the current North Transfer Station (the ‘City dump’) with a more modern and efficient facility intended to more adequately meet the growing needs of the city.

The demolition and reconstruction of the North Transfer Station requires that the current facility must close to all use at 5:30p on Monday, January 20th.  The new facility, with new weigh stations, buildings and improved/expanded recycling services, is expected to open in 2016.

While the North Transfer Station is closed, all recycling and trash must be disposed of at the South Transfer Station in South Park (at 130 South Kenyon St.)  Plan your trip through the Transfer Station website.

Learn more about the new station design through the Rebuild Project website.  Questions on the project can be directed to SPU_NTS@seattle.gov
