Our friends at Silence-Heart-Nest shared a recent photo of Pope Francis holding the Peace Torch, a symbol of harmony shared by millions world-wide particularly during the Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run that has taken place in Seattle every year since 1987.

The Peace Torch is also part of the statue of Sri Chinmoy that stands alongside the Burke-Gilman Trail and Lake Union (near the Aurora Bridge), along with a poem by Sri Chinmoy that summarizes his dynamic approach to peace.  Every day everyone is invited to take hold of the torch and offer their personal prayer or plea for peace.

Sri Chinmoy had audiences with Blessed Pope Paul VI and Saint John Paul II, and shared with them his message of peace.  While Sri Chinmoy passed away in 2007, his peace torch – and message – were brought to Pope Francis, who blessed the torch before holding it as well.

The photos of Pope Francis come to Fremocentrist thanks to L’Osservatore Romano, and friends from Silence-Heart-Nest.  We all hope you will share in the message of peace – an active peace that starts with each one of us.
