This weekend, as you clean out the house, yard or shed – or shop for new wares for the house, yard and/or shed – remember that there will be regular pick-up for solid waste, recycling and food/yard waste on Monday, February 18th, President’s Day.
Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) customers need to have containers out by 7a on Monday to ensure collection of all those unwanted materials. Also, the City of Seattle North Recycling & Disposal Station will be open regular hours on Monday, from 8a – 5:30p.
Before renting (or borrowing) a truck on Monday to haul excess waste to the dump, however, remember that you can call SPU at 206/684-3000 to request bulky item collection. This extra pick-up will cost an additional $30 ($38 for items containing gases,) but can also save the hassle of a drive to the Recycling & Disposal Station – which will accept bulky items for the same $30 fee.
To recycle a refrigerator or freezer, Seattle City Light will pay $30 and pick it up for free! Call 1-877-577-0510 or visit the website to schedule a pick-up.
