Public Open House Meetings On Construction Of Sewage Storage Tunnel Beneath Fremont

Seattle Public Utilities is building an elongated storage container beneath Fremont, from Ballard to Wallingford. Map provided by SPU, 2019

On Wednesday, December 11th, from 5p – 7p at the Ballard Branch of Seattle Public Library, the public can drop in to learn about extensive construction coming to our area starting in early 2020.

The City of Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) are currently building an elongated storage tunnel, from Ballard to Wallingford under Fremont.  This storage will take overflow storm water to keep it from mixing with sewage and overflowing into our waterways, as it does now.

This is a massive construction project and it will involve all of the communities of Ballard, Wallingford and Fremont.  Right now, representatives from Seattle Public Utilities will be sharing information on the right-of-way at 24th Ave NW, and the design of the street end.  This information will be shared in a drop-in session (no formal presentation) at the Ballard Branch Library on December 11th from 5p to 7p.
