On Friday, September 19th, Literacy Source will join with others, world-wide, building pop-up parks and other forms of public space out of street parking spaces on Park(ing) Day 2014.
Check out the public reading room created from two parking spaces along N 35th St, near the Literacy Source classrooms (and the Fremont Branch of Seattle Public Library.) This will be a sitting area for people to stop, relax, read and learn about Literacy Source. A tea shop has promised to provide tea throughout the day, and our local museum, History House of Greater Seattle, will be giving away free books.
Also consider supporting Literacy Source, and it’s adult learning programs, by attending their first-ever Trivia Night at Hale’s Brewery on Tuesday, October 7th, from 7:30p – 9:30p. Test your knowledge at this Literacy Source-themed trivia challenge. Could you pass the U.S. Citizenship test? What about the G.E.D.? English grammar? How much do you know about the 62 world nations represented by Literacy Source students? Come enjoy this evening of fun and learning, but reserve you place today. Space is limited and filling fast.
