The City agency Trees for Seattle, in partnership with Friends Of The Troll’s Knoll, is hosting a clean-up for the Fremont Troll, on Saturday, February 27th.  It is vitally important to the organizers that volunteers are kept safe and socially-distant, which means that RSVPs are required for everyone wishing to help make the Troll, and the area around him, look better.

Volunteers are always needed to care for the Fremont Troll – but work parties cannot be done exactly like they were before… Please RSVP! Photo provided by Friends Of The Troll’s Knoll, May ’18

Two shifts of volunteers will be working at the Fremont Troll, on Feb 27th with five people per shift:

  • First Shift – 9a to 11a
  • Second Shift – Noon to 2p

This major tourist destination has several trees growing nearby, to provide ambiance to the area, and filter noise and pollution from the highway above.  Volunteers will be asked to remove weeds from the base of the trees, and to spread mulch around them.

Masks are mandatory for all volunteers working around the Fremont Troll – although they are no longer required for mythological citizens! Photo by Heather Mercill, Apr ’20

The Fremont Troll area is the responsibility of our entire community – to keep it attractive and tidy makes all of us feel better – but it is vital that we keep the volunteers and everyone safe from the transmission of COVID-19.  Mask wearing is mandatory during this activity, and walk-up volunteers will be turned away.  Please RSVP to register to help, at cvogelheim@forterra.org, and if you cannot help, please keep the area clear during both shifts to allow space for adequate social distancing.

Thank you for your support, and appreciation, of the Fremont Troll and the Troll’s Knoll!  For more information, visit the Fremont Troll’s Knoll website (click here.)
