For Monday, February 17th, the Federal President’s Day holiday, Fremonsters can expect to have regular pick-up of food and yard waste, garbage, and recycling trash. Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) wanted to remind customers that containers should be placed for collection by 7a to ensure pick-up.
For those in need of disposal of loads of trash, the North Seattle Transfer Station in Fremont is currently closed for a rebuild (learn more on-line about the project.) However, the South Seattle Transfer Station, in the South Park neighborhood, will be open regular hours on President’s Day, from 8a – 5:30p.
Another alternative to carrying large trash items to the dump is arranging for a bulky item collection. For an additional $30 fee ($38 for items containing gases,) large items such as a sofa, bed, or dishwasher can be picked up from the curb. The $30 fee is the same as that charged for disposing of similar items at the South Transfer Station. To recycle a refrigerator or freezer, contact Seattle City Light for free pick-up and payment of $30. Call 1-877-577-0510 or visit www.jacoinc.net for more information and to schedule a pick up.
For those SPU customers who experience a missed garbage, recycling or food and yard waste collection on President’s Day, call (206)684-3000 during regular business hours on Tuesday, February 18, or use the Online Missed Collection form.
