Replacement Of Historic Westlake & Dexter Bus Shelter Scheduled

On July 14th, demolition is expected to begin on the roof of the historic bus shelter at the meeting of Westlake Avenue North and Dexter Avenue North – just south of the Fremont Bridge.  The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) has nearly completed a design of the rehabilitated shelter, based in part on input from the public.

The scope of work at the site includes concrete pad replacement, roof reconstruction, repair of steel beams, benches and the seat back.  SDOT will also install a permanent sign that gives a detailed history and photos about the site (thanks to the Queen Anne Historical Society,) and a trash can.  The finished structure is also intended to have lighting and more low-maintenance landscaping.
