On March 4th, Stone Soup Theatre announced on its Facebook page that, “Due to unforeseen circumstances, Stone Soup Theatre has had to take the incredibly drastic step of cancelling our remaining performances of Sam Shepard’s ‘The God Of Hell.’”
The run of this farcical play by the award-winning playwright, and directed by Joanna Goff Sunde, had two more weeks to run. While the cancellation has been confirmed, no reason has yet been given for this loss.
Another Facebook notice, from February 26th, announced that one of the four cast members (Maureen Miko, Gianni Truzzi, Keith Dahlgren, and Edwin Scheibner) from ‘The God Of Hell’ had been hospitalized, and this might be the reason behind the closure.
Those with pre-purchased tickets, from Goldstar or Brown Paper Tickets, can contact those agencies for information on refunds. It does sound like the cancellations are a loss for area audiences when you read the reviews by Drama In The Hood and Arts Stage-Seattle Rage.
“We, at Stone Soup Theatre,” the Facebook notice continued, “are incredibly grateful for your support and understanding. We hope to see you when ‘Alice In Wonderland’ [created by the Manhattan Project] opens in April.” For more information on Stone Soup, visit the website or, it appears, the Facebook page.
