On Saturday, August 2nd, starting at 3p, please join in a short neighborhood stroll and a long look at Fremont history, with this summertime installment of the Fremont Fireside Chat series. Join this free, one-hour tour – sponsored by HomeStreet Bank – that starts at History House, hikes to the Fremont Troll, and toddles along to Fremont Baptist Church.
On the way from History House to Fremont Baptist, hear about the area surrounding Troll Avenue, before its namesake arrived and before the bridge soared over our heads. Find out about the tragedies and triumphs that surround the famous sculpture – and future plans for this popular site.
Then, learn more about Fremont Baptist – the oldest institution in Fremont – and its landmark building, home to hundreds of self-help groups throughout its history. Tour participants will be invited to explore the structure, from cupola to sub-basement (where visitors can see the foundations of the original church, built in 1901.) Members of Fremont Baptist will not only share history, but also lemonade and cookies for a bit of social time after the tour.
Come enjoy a brief, active stroll through Fremont history, led by Fremocentrist.com. For more information, including A.D.A. accessibility, contact instigator@box2219.temp.domains Also, share the event listing on Brown Paper Tickets and Facebook.
