Last Thursday, October 20th, Mayor Mike McGinn, and many Fremont notables, gathered at 3400 Stone Way to celebrate the announcement that Brooks Sports will relocate their headquarters to a new development to be built on the site, in 2013.
Currently, Brooks Sports has 180 employees at their headquarters in Bothell, with a plan to expand to 300 after the move. Mayor McGinn’s weekly e-newsletter celebrated the move, and the benefits seen in the development – by Skanska – of the 120,000 square foot building that will house them.
The building will meet the City of Seattle’s Living Building Challenge, the e-newsletter proclaimed, thanks to employees in the City’s Departments of Planning & Development, Economic Development, Public Utilities, City Light and Transportation who helped make this project possible.
According to unsubstantiated reports given at the Fremont Chamber of Commerce Board meeting on October 26th, the president of Brooks Sports praised the community of Fremont – and said that the company couldn’t be happier in its choice of a new home.
