Over the weekends of Jan 30th – Feb 1st and Feb 6th– 8th, the Seattle Pacific University Theatre Department presents the award-winning musical ‘Urinetown’, a hilarious critique of the legal system, capitalism, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, municipal politics, and musical theatre itself.
Find out what happens in a fictionalized future, where a twenty-year drought has led to a ban on private toilets. In this story, the police and a corrupt corporation oppress the people to the point of interfering with their freedom to pee. Rebels rise up, as do star-crossed lovers, to challenge the rules and fight for freedom. This tongue-in-cheek satire provides plenty of laughs, and music, to entertain, with a sharp-edged wit.
Purchase tickets to this Theatre Department production through the SPU website, for $15 general ($12 seniors and students.) Performances take place on Thursday, Jan 30th – Saturday, Feb 1st and Thursday, Feb 6th – Saturday, Feb 8th, at 7:30p, and a 1p matinee on Saturdays.
