Seattle Public Utilities Sharing Information On Upcoming Large Scale Work Project

Please consider attending, and learning what you need to know about this large-scale project.

In the next week, representatives from Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) will be at local sites for drop-in sessions with the public about the Ship Canal Water Quality Project, and the upcoming construction of the Ship Canal Storage Tunnel to be located beneath Fremont and Ballard.

At drop-in sessions, SPU representatives will talk about the work going on currently, and what is to come. They will show site design plans. Team members will talk about the partnership for this project between SPU and the King County Wastewater Treatment Division.

Please attend a drop-in session to get information on the construction of the Storage Tunnel, and understand the impacts this will have on our entire community over the next year or more.

Drop-in sessions will take place:

Sunday, Nov 5^th, from 10a – 4p, at the Fremont Sunday Market
Thursday, Nov 9^th, from 4p – 6p, at the PCC Fremont
Thursday, Nov 16^th, from 10a – Noon, at the Stone Way Café

Ship Canal Water Quality Project work has already begun, in Ballard, near 24^th Ave NW & Shilshole Ave NW, as SPU removes on-site contaminated soil, installs water, electrical, gas, drainage, and wastewater utilities, and replaces the 100-year-old pier with a more durable pedestrian pier. SPU has information on the Ballard work on a specific website.
