On Friday, August 2nd, from 6p – 9p, the Fremont First Friday Art Walk returns with plenty of places to explore and find entertainment, for free! At most of the FFF venues, the artist will be on-hand to talk about their work and the inspirations and processes they use. Fremont is a great place to learn about art and gain insights into the art of others – maybe to help influence your own?
For August, check out the Fremont First Friday Art Walk website (click here,) to find a list of venues participating, but be sure to stop by:
- Frame Up Studios – Discover new artist Megan Bailey, and see her perspective-changing paintings. Using color in bold ways, Bailey works on a horizontal plane, placing objects directly on the canvas and allowing viewers to see the subjects in different ways. Frame Up also sells current and vintage Fremont Fair posters, and if you haven’t added 2019 to your collection, they have a few laminated / mounted still available.
- Portage Bay Goods – Celebrate the dog days of summer in style, with the amazing embroidery art of Chloe Albin. Speak with Albin about the exacting and intricate work of these tiny tapestries – as well as the practical applications she has found. PBG features artists who create both art and practical, creative, mass marketable items. Meet Albin, and see her art at this procrastinator’s gift shop.
- Down Under Gallery – Painter and poet Vikram Madan has brought his show, ‘An Utterance Ineffable’, to the Gallery for a short stay. During the August Art Walk, Madan will be on-hand to talk about his acrylic paintings, their witty and insightful titles, and how his life experiences, from India to America, influence his art.
Fremont has long welcomed and supported art and artists, and the monthly Fremont First Friday Art Walk is a great way to meet the makers and see their creative products, for free. Of course, the best way to support these working artists is by buying their works, and inviting others to pick up gifts and treasures during this show.
