Starting this week, enjoy rarely seen works by playwright Tennessee Williams with ‘5 X Tenn (Or So)’ at Stone Soup Theatre.
Directed by Ellen Graham, this show offers audiences a chance to enjoy six one-act plays by one of the most beloved and prolific of America’s writers.
While many playwrights begin their careers writing one-act plays, Williams continued to craft memorable but shorter pieces until his death in 1983. Many of his works were then hidden away, unproduced, in deference to taboos surrounding the subject matters.
For ‘5 X Tenn (Or So,)’ the six selected plays contain both familiar and controversial themes.
From an aging couple dealing with alcoholism and denial, to a post-apocalyptic society, this production presents the playwright at his most heart-felt, endearing, frightening and even prophetic.
A must-see for all Seattle audiences, ‘5 X Tenn (Or So)’ will run on the Stone Soup Theatre DownStage from February 15th – March 9th.
Purchase tickets now through Brown Paper Tickets, or the Stone Soup Box Office at 206/633-1883.
