Good news for fans of the Neatloaf and the warm, wonderful atmosphere we’ve all enjoyed for decades at Silence-Heart-Nest. The restaurant, which closed in mid-August, will be re-opening, with new owners and new management, at the end of September.
According to Nayak Polissar, “We’re very happy to announce that our son will be taking over…” The outpouring of love, and lament, that came with the restaurant’s closing overwhelmed the owners, Nayak and his wife Nandita. However, it wasn’t until Nayak’s son volunteered to come on and run the legendary vegetarian restaurant, that they realized it could actually return.
With the support of the members of the Sri Chinmoy Centre, to which the Polissar’s belong, the restaurant will re-open but with the menu and the hours possibly modified. It will take a few weeks to make changes and get staff and management back, but they hope to be serving meals, and elevating spirits, by the end of September.
“We didn’t actually realize how much the restaurant meant to the community until we announced our closing…” wrote Nayak Polissar, from New York, “there was such an outpouring of love and a sense of loss from so many. That was a big part of the inspiration to keep it going.”
Stay tuned for an official date – and another chance to enjoy the bright, friendly experience of Silence-Heart-Nest.
