This is the final week for Fremonsters to go in and tell the folks at Silence-Heart-Nest how much we’ve appreciated their delicious food and the vegetarian oasis they’ve created, plus their community involvement, over the last decades. Silence-Heart-Nest owners, Nayak and Nandita, have put the restaurant up for sale after 33 years, fourteen of those spent in Fremont. The restaurant will be open, regular hours, through Wednesday, August 14th.
In a public statement, Nandita and Nayak said, “We have seen your marriages, your children, and even your grandchildren!! We feel part of an extended family and are always grateful for knowing you. What a joy it has been!”
Nayak and Nandita moved Silence-Heart-Nest to Fremont, from the U-District, when they purchased the Longshoreman’s Daughter restaurant – and took over the legacy of Neatloaf built by that establishment. Now, they are seeking their successor. The agent for sale of Silence-Heart-Nest is Laura Miller, and she has created a handsome sales brochure – available for viewing on-line (click here for the .pdf)
“We are also grateful to our staff, past and present. They have been the cheerful faces, the creative cooks, the serving hands, the positive attitude,” wrote Nandita and Nayak. “This is not goodbye for us. We will be around the community. In the meantime, do come by for a visit.”
Make sure you stop by, for the Neatloaf or one of the other fantastic dishes Silence-Heart-Nest has become known for, by August 14th, and let these caring neighbors know how much they will be missed.
