As of midday today, following the fifth claim of sexual abuse, Ed Murray has announced his resignation, at 5p on Wednesday, September 13th, as Mayor of Seattle. (click here for the New York Times article) The name of his successor, to serve out the remainder of his term, remains in doubt although a member of the Seattle City Council is expected to fill the seat.
This news makes the need for a strong leader to take the mayoral helm following the election even more important. All Seattle voters must exercise their right and vote wisely on November 8th. Please consider the candidates carefully during the two months of the campaign remaining.
