Families living on Solid Ground housing campuses have had to make incredible adjustments during the COVID-19 pandemic, but without some of the resources that most Fremonsters take for granted. Donations are sought to help these families connect, and the children to get the access to help them succeed.
Solid Ground’s Children’s Program strives to keep up with the changing needs the pandemic has occasioned. They’ve connected families with meal deliveries, child care support and technology requests such as laptops and WiFi hotspots.
Contributions to Solid Ground could help these families improve their lives, and their childrens’ futures with:
- One-to-one tutoring and mentorships
- Social Emotional Learning frameworks – to teach the youth how their diverse backgrounds can be strengths, not hurdles
- Educational materials, particularly those in cultural diversity
Solid Ground has provided the children access to a summer workshop, ‘Geeking Out Kids of Color’, that connected them with developers using robotics, computer science, and programming skills. The curriculum enhanced the learning experiences of its students, encouraged creative outcomes, and sought to close the racial digital divide.
By donating to Solid Ground, you would increase the access of the low-income families on their campuses to inclusive programming and the chance to build stronger communities. Right now, gifts of $100 will be matched, by Comcast Internet Essentials, to further help close the digital divide.
